One to One Case Study
The coaching sessions enabled me to pinpoint aspects of my professional and personal life that weren’t working well for me and come up with actions to improve the situations. In particular, I learned to be well prepared with my lines of thought before going into meetings with my head to get the best possible outcome; how to emphasise common goals to get my point across more successfully and to delegate to staff who were more than capable of handling certain tasks to reduce my own workload. The key realisation for me was that I was unhappy when our values were not aligned but I am maintaining the integrity of my own values, as this is what enables me to keep a balance at work.
Coaching is very powerful. It provides a quiet time and place for you to reflect in a profession where this just isn’t possible in any working day – or even at weekends. It has helped me to develop strength and clarity of thought and action, which surely adds strength to our leadership team.
As a result of my coaching, I have moved down from leading Year 6, to Year 5 to accelerate progress in this year group. This has helped to improve Year 6 and our Key Stage 2 results.
Naila also delivered our Leadership Development day, which gave us a clearer understanding of what is important to us, and where we wanted to take our school. It has enabled our team to consciously make a concerted effort, with all working towards the most highly placed values, which means there is a better chance of them being realised. All phase leaders are now working with their teams with these values at the forefront of any actions. This has resulted in better progress for our children, excellence in all that we do, and higher expectations leading to higher achievements.
Thank you Naila. I really enjoyed working with you and took much away that I can continue to use in my personal and professional life. You taught me to read myself and other people better, to see situations from their perspective, which helps to achieve my own goals. I think through situations more clearly now before I go into discussions.
