“This is outstanding progress and attainment in a challenging school where children join us at very low starting points… Without a shadow of doubt Naila’s work with the school has been part of this success and we would strongly recommend Naila.”
Shamim Akhtar, Deputy Headteacher
Lapage Primary School has always been an incredibly aspirational organisation. After receiving Good in its 2013 OFSTED inspection, the school began to explore ways in which it could increase this classification to Outstanding.
It was quickly established that a collaborative approach and ‘growth mindset’ amongst the leadership team would be vital to the school’s progress and ultimate outcomes for pupils. To ensure the best possible chance of success, Lapage also wanted to increase the accountability of staff.
Having coached the Assistant Head previously in a region-wide Diverse Leaders Initiative, I was enlisted to coach and develop the middle and senior tier of the leadership team, during the academic year 2014-15.
My Approach
As the school’s focus centred on its leaders, I felt that one-to-one coaching sessions would be the most efficient and effective way to boost performance and accountability.
By establishing a close relationship with the senior and middle leaders, I was able to facilitate personal development and create a constructive environment that would drive long-term progress. This sustainable approach empowered Lapage to take control of its achievements.
The Results
Atomic Mind enabled staff at Lapage Primary School to take a strong lead in their area of expertise and challenge under-performance within the organisation.
By increasingly individual accountability, Naila helped the leadership team become confident at holding others to account, to improve productivity and collaboration within the school.
As a direct result of my coaching, Lapage was able to fulfill its ultimate goal. The school was graded Outstanding in a local authority review in January 2015, a return on investment that will have a lasting impact on its pupils and reputation.
