I have had the privilege of receiving Leadership Coaching from Naila Hussain and it has been the most powerful and effective piece of CPD of my entire career.
Through these coaching sessions I developed a strong awareness of my identity as a leader. This was achieved through gaining clarity about, confidence with and a deep security grounded firmly in my core values.
As leaders we frequently face difficult and challenging circumstances. I had to endure a particularly traumatic time that went on for an extended period. The coaching sessions were a powerful tool in enabling me to take all the positives from the situations I faced whilst freeing me from the negatives that had been limiting my leadership potential.
The impact of this work with Naila was captured in our recent Ofsted inspection:
“The outward-looking approach held by the senior leadership team means they welcome outside scrutiny and make very effective use of any feedback from such scrutiny to secure further improvement. School leaders have established and embedded an ethos of continuous school improvement in the school and staff.”
This led to the school moving from Requires Improvement to Outstanding in May 2016.
As leaders we are the most expensive resource in our school and we owe it to the children to be the best we can. Therefore, investing in our own CPD is crucial if we want to get our schools to where we aspire for them to be and if we really want to make a difference to the lives of the people we serve; children, their families and the community.
It is very difficult to capture in words the immense difference this investment has made to me. It really is about every minute of every day!
